NEW! Grantham Button Kit by Gina B. Silkworks
$15.99 Coming soon
These reusable tools have been designed to easily create small pieces of woven fabric that can be made into dome, ball & flat buttons.
Why "Grantham"? Well, simply because we are based in Grantham! And, if you make these using the right colour of wool they do rather resemble the famous Grantham gingerbread... ;)
While the basketweave design has very long history and can be seen on antique buttons, there's no evidence for a tool to create these. This tool, and the technique is entirely unique to us (Gina first published instructions back in 2013). Also, the ribbed variation is entirely new, and adds a new twist to the technique.
These are quick and easy buttons that are very tactile. When stuffed with a washable filling and made with washable fibres, they can go through the washing machine and are great fun on knitted garments. These buttons can be made using a variety of different threads, from wools, cottons, silks, and even metallic threads.
These looms have been designed & manufactured by Gina-B Silkworks in the UK, as reusable template tools in 6 sizes, with cleverly shaped & positioned tabs for ease of use.
